1956: Open for business

Acqua Minerale San Benedetto S.p.A. mineral water was founded in 1956 in Scorzè (Venice). Soon after, mineral water began to be sold in glass bottles.

1980: The value of innovation

San Benedetto continued to innovate, keeping an eye on new technologies and with a modern view of the market. After a period of development at the end of the 1970s based on glass "one way packaging", it became the first Italian company in the industry to launch PET containers in the 1980s.

1984: Beyond the frontier: Cadbury Schweppes Int.

San Benedetto signs an agreement with Cadbury Schweppes International and begins to produce and distribute the Schweppes product range in Italy.

1988: Beyond the frontier: Pepsi Co. International

San Benedetto signs an agreement with Pepsi Co. International to produce and sell the Pepsi and Seven Up branded product ranges in Italy. With this "international" policy, the company begins to expand into foreign markets.

1993: A winning approach to the market

The first in Italy to create a high-quality bottling plant for producing still drinks, San Benedetto exploits this competitive advantage and establishes itself in innovative markets, in line with emerging consumer trends. All this is supported by a modern use of advertising.

1994: Market leaders

Thanks to its technological know–how, which brings about important processing and production innovations, and based on winning market visions and strategies, San Benedetto begins a journey that over the years will allow it to establish itself as a leader or co-leader in all Italian beverage markets. Success is now a foregone conclusion.

1995: Gran Guizza S.p.A.

A new plant at Popoli (Pescara) is opened, where GranGuizza S.p.A. bottles Fonte Valle Reale mineral water.

1997: San Benedetto speaks Spanish: Agua Mineral San Benedetto S.A. and Alpe Guizza S.p.A.

San Benedetto also arrives in Spain. The new company Agua Mineral San Benedetto S.A. builds a bottling plant for the Fuente Primavera brand of mineral water and beverages. Moreover, through the company Alpe Guizza S.p.A. it begins to bottle Fonte Caudana mineral water in the Biella area.

1999: San Benedetto lands in the Caribbean: Santa Clara C.P.A.

Acqua Minerale San Benedetto S.p.A. holds shares in Agua Mineral Santa Clara C.P.A., a company based in the Dominican Republic which bottles and sells mineral water.

2000: Primavera water appears

The Scorzè company bottles Fonte Primavera mineral water in the Popoli plant.

2001: Polska Woda and Acqua di Nepi are launched

Thanks to an agreement between San Benedetto and Danone, the Polska Woda company is founded in Poland. For San Benedetto, it is a first step towards a significant presence in Eastern Europe. San Benedetto acquires 100% of the Acqua di Nepi S.p.A. company, and now the company begins to produce naturally sparkling mineral water as well.

2002: A glimpse towards Europe: Atlantic Beverage Limited

San Benedetto signs a subcontracting deal with ABL for the production and packaging of Coca-Cola products on the European market. Thanks to a partnership agreement between San Benedetto and Danone, the Magyarviz Kft company for mineral water production is founded in Hungary.

2003: San Benedetto reaches Paese

Construction begins on the Paese plant, in Treviso, which is intended to become a production and logistical centre to support the original plant at Scorzè.

2006: A family choice

Enrico, Gianfranco, Renzo, Maria Teresa, Sara, Federico and Matteo Zoppas reach an agreement on acquiring the shares owned by other members of the Zoppas family, so as to hold on to 100% of San Benedetto’s holding company, in charge of the Acqua Minerale San Benedetto group. A family choice.

2008: San Benedetto becomes the Italian "Energy Saving Company"

Years of investment in innovation, improvements in the production process and the considerable technological know-how acquired allow the Veneto-based company to position itself as an Energy Saving Company, re-directing all its industrial product development activity and processing towards eco-sustainable practices.

2009: a firm commitment to water without carbon emissions

San Benedetto continues in its mission of achieving eco-sustainability. A crucial step along the way has been the agreement signed between the San Benedetto and the Italian Ministry for the Environment. The aims are to study the effects of bottled water on the climate and to neutralise such effects through joint projects.

San Benedetto: Sole Investor in Polska Woda and Magyarviz

The remaining 50% of Polska Woda Sp.zo.o and Magyarviz KFT – leading firms in their respective markets for producing and marketing mineral water and beverages – has been acquired through a joint venture between the San Benedetto Group and Danone, in 2001 and 2002 respectively.

2011: Agreement renewal with the ministry of the environment

A commitment that, starting from the measurement of carbon footprint, is to reduce emissions of CO2 and the definition of a virtuous model for the mineral water sector.

2012: The birth of the new Eco Green line

All the uncontaminated purity and lightness of the San Benedetto Mineral Water Line Eco Green. A new generation of regenerated plastic bottles and 100% of CO2 emissions offset.
